STUART, FL – Nancy McCarthy, APR, United Way of Martin County’s director of marketing and communications, was honored with the distinguished Doris Fleischman Award, presented by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) to one of the state’s 1,200 public relations professionals for unrecognized contributions to the profession.
Founded in 1938, FPRA is the oldest public relations organization in the United States. The award was presented during the association’s annual conference held in Orlando.
The Doris Fleischman Award honors the selfless, dedicated volunteer who steadfastly and quietly contributes to the public relations profession. Inspiration for the award comes from Doris Fleischman, business partner in the firm of Edward Bernays, considered the father of modern public relations.
McCarthy has over 20 years of public relations experience managing internal and external communications for Fortune 500 companies, local businesses, government and nonprofit organizations. She is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) and has received numerous image awards and Golden Image Awards for excellence in public relations. She is the past president of the Treasure Coast Chapter and Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. McCarthy is a graduate of the University of Florida.
