St. Lucie and Indian River County Firefighters give out turkeys and all the fixins, ready to cook!
While most families are beginning to make travel plans for the long holiday weekend, Firefighters in St. Lucie and Indian River County will be handing out frozen turkeys with all the sides for a good, old-fashioned home cooked Thanksgiving dinner to more than 600 families.
Phone lines opened up late in October to begin taking names from families in need. All families must be preregistered to pick up meals.
Indian River County will be handing out meals from 10AM-1PM tomorrow November 23, 2021 at the Vero Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located at 4225 43rd Avenue * Vero Beach 32967
St. Lucie County will be handing out meals from 1PM-6PM tomorrow November 23, 2021 behind the St. Lucie County Fire District Administrative building located at 5160 NW Milner Drive * Port St Lucie 34983
In addition, St. Lucie County firefighters started up the grills and began cooking turkeys early this morning for the St. Lucie County Mustard Seed’s annual Thanksgiving dinner giveaway.
This endeavor is only possible due to an annual $4000 sponsorship from Cleveland Clinic and an annual donation from Lawnwood Regional Medical Center of over 500 turkeys…. and to countless volunteers.
